Jahyummy.com: So how long have you been modeling?

Ashley Summers: About 7 years

Jahyummy.com: How important do you think modeling is in the entertainment world?

Ashley Summers: I think modeling is definitely an important aspect of the entertainment and fashion industries. Models are used for everything from marketing products and businesses – to videos and hosting events.

Jahyummy.com: If you had any advice to give any other aspiring models, what will it be….

Ashley Summers: My advice for all aspiring models would be to definitley make sure you get connected with the right people who have your best interest at heart. The most important thing to making it in this business is to network with everyone everywhere, be smart about certain business decisions, and do your research. Always be professional, especially for young female models, because people are always willing to take advantage of you because they just see a pretty face versus an intelligent business savvy woman. The more professional you are in an unprofessional setting, the more likely people are to take you seriously.

Jahyummy.com: What do you think it will take for you to break through in the model/entertainment industry?

Ashley Summers: Besides getting my physical image to another level, just knowing the right people and being at the right events at the right time. I have also made sure that i keep God first, and so far he’s been doing nothing but sending all kinds of blessings my way.

Jahyummy.com: Nowadays they have the typical runway models, and eye candy models. Alot of females in hip hop lean towards the look of an eye candy model & have no prior experience on the runway. Do you have runway experience? and what style of modeling do you think you’re more interested in?

Ashley Summers: I have runway experience. In fact runway is my specialty. I like eye candy modeling because for my body type, thats where i get the most work. I also have a passion for high- fashion runway modeling and urban courture print modeling.

Jahyummy.com: How important is the internet in the modeling industry?

Ashley Summers: Well how important is the internet in anything these days? The internet is the primary source of communication among young people today. It’s where we get our news, updates, emails, jobs, exposure, and information on everything we need. I have even taken steps to make myself a twitter account even though i don’t really care to tweet because its just another form of networking.

Jahyummy.com: So lets get a little personal. What type of guys do you like because i’m sure a lot of fellas want to know.

Ashley Summers: This question is kind of hard because i really dont discriminate against many or have a specific type. Like my friends and i say we like variety packs. (LOL) I do prefer guy who have more of an athletic build and who are at least 6’0″ ft because when i wear heels i’m about 6’1″. As far as what i look for in a guy, I need someone who is ambitious and driven, who has personality, swag, and good taste in just about everything, who is independent like myself and who is looking for more than just a good time.

Jahyummy.com: Being that we are here at Jahyummy.com, you gotta let us know who some of your favorite hip-hop artists are..

Ashley Summers: Of course I have to support my cousin Dre Skuffs. I see he’s really doing his thing and I cant wait till things really take off for him. Aside from Dre, I like Plies, Jeezy, Jay-Z, Gucci Mane and definitely Nicki Minaj.

Jahyummy.com: Top 5 models? Out of those, which has the best work ethic?

Ashley Summers: Tyra Banks, Melissa Ford, Lauren London, Eva Pickford, and Kimora Lee Simmons. I would probably say as far as who has the best work ethic i would say either Kimora or Tyra because they took their careers to the next level and explored different avenues of success.

Jahyummy.com: What do you think about “Video Vixens” ? Can you see yourself in music videos, if so name an artist whos video you would like to be in….

Ashley Summers: Well i’m not going to bash the video vixens, but i will say that i support those who choose that path, because it’s definitely not one that is cut out for all. If I personally chose to be a video vixen, it would strictly have to require me just being in the video. I’m not the type to bend and flex my personal morals and ethics for none of these rappers out here. So all the behind the scenes and under the table deals being made for the number one spot on the set is definitely not on my agenda. As far as what artist’s videos i would like to be in, I would say Trey Songs, Nicki Minaj, and Beyonce and of course i’m willing to work with Dre Skuffs.

Jahyummy.com: How important are model agencies? Are they helpful?

Ashley Summers: Well for me, most of my work that i have done have just been from me meeting the right people on my own. I think as long as you can be a free- agent and work with multiple agencies at once, then you can maximize your options for exposure. Agencies are helpful though, as long as they have your best interest at heart. I am currently with RIVI Models in Tampa, fl, but I am also working with other people on several projects so i am able to get more work and still have someone managing me.
